ABOUT US

Holy Trinity belongs to the Anglican family of churches headed by the Archbishop of Canterbury. We are part of the diocese of Melbourne led by Archbishop Philip Freier. Anglican services were first held in Hampton Park in 1923 however the formation of Holy Trinity dates from 1965 when services began in the local progress hall led by Rev'd Egan Eggleston vicar of Dandenong. Later the small Anglican group used the Uniting Church building in Hayes Road.

Following the purchase of a block of land at the corner of The Fairway and Somerville Road, the congregation secured the old parish hall at Sorrento. The building was brought to Hampton Park in 1984 and the first service was held in 1985. It was great to have our own building to worship in at last but there was no hall, no kitchen, and outside toilets. As the suburb grew the church outgrew the weather board structure. In 2006/07 the site was redeveloped and the present building multi-purpose building was opened.

Information about the minister Ian Savage

Ian and Frances both come from the UK - although Frances was born in India. Ian studied at Trinity College Theological School and was ordained deacon in 1994 and priest in 1999. Ian and Frances came to Holy Trinity in December 2000 – making Ian by far the longest serving vicar the parish has ever had! As well as being vicar of Holy Trinity, since 2011 Ian has been chaplain at the Prahran Mission (a Unitingcare outreach agency). From time to time he also tutors Old Testament in the University of Divinity (MCD) online program. Ian enjoys the variety and the challenge of juggling parish, chaplaincy and tutoring - although life can get pretty hectic! However the heart of his ministry is Sunday worship.

'9.30am on Sunday is the high point of my week. I do everything I can to prepare for it. It is a joy and privilege to gather with my brothers and sisters, kids and adults, in the presence of our God who is loving, generous, mysterious and fun. It is fashionable to give churches names such as Faith or Destiny or Hope - but what better name can we have than the name of our God, Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit!'

Who are we?

These values drive our ministry at Holy Trinity:

Prayer - this is our lifeline to God.

Forgiveness - we know we are forgiven people and we try to forgive others.

Service to others - we want to make a difference in the community.

Loving people - we pass on God's love to others.

Biblical teaching - this sets the agenda for our ministry.
